The NTi Room Acoustics Kit measures the behavior of acoustic sound in enclosed spaces, such as dwellings, class rooms, auditoriums, offices, theatres, concert halls, or transportation terminals. Room Acoustics is a broad term that describes the acoustic properties of closed spaces. Measuring and controlling this behavior of waves is particularly useful in rooms where the quality of announcement messages and/or music is important.
The kit consists of the DS3 Dodecahedron Speaker set, the XL2 Acoustic Analyzer and the NTi Room Acoustics Reporter software. Most importantly, all measurements are performed in accordance with the relevant standards.

Kit Components
Spectrum Analyzer
In order to carry out room acoustic measurements, you need an acoustic analyzer that can measure RT60, STI and Noise Curves in compliance with your national and international standards.
So with the handheld XL2 Acoustic Analyzer you get all three measurement functions combined in one device. Moreover, thanks to the simple operation, you can comfortably switch among the three measurement functions and produce professional reports.
Minirator MR-PRO
The Minirator MR-PRO generates a gated Pink Noise with a low Crest factor dedicated to RT60 measurements. In addition, the MR-PRO offers the Speech Intelligibility signal and a GlideSweep signal with editable cycle time. However, all test signals may be replayed via the DS3 Dodecahedron Speaker set.
DS3 Dodecahedron
The DS3 Dodecahedron Speaker is a powerful sound source with omnidirectional radiation characteristics. Indeed, it includes 12 loudspeakers of the same type, mounted to a dodecahedron-shaped chassis. The optimized frequency spectrum delivers a high level of equalized sound energy for precise Reverberation Time measurements. Additionally, it offers the reference sound source to evaluate the spatial decay rate in open plan offices.
PA3 Power Amplifier
The DS3 is powered by the portable Power Amplifier PA3, which offers a built-in Pink Noise generator with an equalized output signal. In addition, the wireless remote control allows the test signal to be switched on/off from outside of the measurement room.
TalkBox
The TalkBox is an acoustic signal generator for speech intelligibility measurements. The TalkBox simulates a human talker (60 dBA @ 1 meter) with the STIPA test signal and spoken messages. Further it provides a wide range of test signals like Sine, Pink Noise, White Noise, a delay test signal, and spoken announcements. Moreover, it offers a balanced Line-In/Out connector and an FIR equalized speaker (level and phase).
Advantages
- The XL2 is easy to use.
- The XL2 automatically detects the sensitivity of the microphone for indisputable accuracy.
- All measurement results are stored on the removable SD card as TXT files, so it can be further processed externally with a PC or MAC.
- Besides the three Room Acoustic measurements, the XL2 has many other expandable measurement functions. So, if you have other acoustic or audio measurement tasks, it’s likely that the XL2 can help you.
- Together with the Type Approval Option, the XL2 is an approved Sound Level Meter.
- The XL2 can measure the Reverberation Time RT60, it can with the STIPA Option installed, measures the Speech Intelligibility STI, as well as the Sound Pressure Level, the Background Noise Spectrum and even the Noise Curves.
- The Room Acoustics Reporter, a PC software for automatically generating reverberation time measurement reports and analyzing the RTA frequency response spectrum. The software supports acousticians and experts in the visualization and detailed evaluation of measurement data recorded with the XL2 Sound Level Meter.
